Janus Adds Financial Intermediary Sales Director in California

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Janus Capital Group Inc. (NYSE: JNS) has announced the addition of Matthew Shortal to its Advisor Solutions Group. As a vice president and sales director with Janus, Shortal is responsible for working with existing clients and identifying new business opportunities in the financial intermediary sales channel. Shortal, who is based in San Francisco, covers the northern California region of the U.S. He reports to Executive Director of Private Wealth and Trust Keith Watts.

"Matt's experience as a financial advisor to high net worth clients provides him with extensive insight into the needs of both financial advisors and their clients," said Watts. "I believe he will be an invaluable addition to Janus."

Prior to joining Janus, Shortal was a financial advisor with Barclays where he worked on a team that provided comprehensive investment solutions to high net worth individuals, families and foundations. Prior to that, Shortal spent 14 years in the United States Marine Corps (USMC). He is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the USMC reserves. He has served as an officer, aviator, flight instructor, and forward air control instructor in the USMC. During that time, he also trained at the U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) and was a demonstration pilot with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. Shortal earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois and is a Certified Public Accountant.
