Janus Announces Investment Team Appointments

Company Release - 6/22/2006 8:00 AM ET

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 22, 2006--

Gary Black, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Janus Capital Group (NYSE: JNS), today announced the following investment team changes that will take effect June 30, 2006, at the close of the New York Stock Exchange:

-- After 14 years with Janus, Claire Young, portfolio manager of

Janus Olympus Fund and Janus World Funds Plc - U.S. All Cap Growth
Fund, is retiring from professional money management to devote
more time to her family and philanthropic pursuits. Ron Sachs,
portfolio manager of Janus Orion Fund, will assume portfolio
management of both Janus Olympus Fund and World Funds Plc - U.S.
All Cap Growth Fund. Janus Orion Fund will continue to be managed
by 10-year Janus veteran Sachs, who has run the fund since its
inception in June 2000. During that time, Janus Orion Fund has
earned an overall five-star rating from Morningstar, out of 818
mid-cap growth funds, based on risk-adjusted returns, as of May
    31, 2006. For the five-year period ending May 31, 2006, Janus
Orion ranked in Lipper's top 3rd percentile (7th out of 287 funds)
in the multi-cap growth category based on total returns. (Please
see the accompanying tables for complete ratings, rankings and
    performance.)

-- Janus research analysts Brian Schaub and Chad Meade will become

co-managers of Janus Triton Fund, a small- and mid-cap growth fund
introduced in February 2005. They will succeed portfolio manager
Blaine Rollins, who has decided to retire from professional money
management business after 16 years with Janus to devote more time
to personal pursuits. Schaub has specialized in analyzing small-
and mid-cap equities since joining Janus in 2000. He graduated cum
laude from Williams College with a bachelor's degree in economics
and has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst
designation. Meade, a former financial analyst for Goldman Sachs'
global investment research team, came to Janus in 2001. Meade
graduated summa cum laude from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and
State University with a bachelor's degree in finance. Both Schaub
and Meade have been integral members of Janus' small- and mid-cap
growth team and, working closely with small-cap portfolio manager
Will Bales, have assisted in managing Janus' institutional
    small-cap portfolio.

"Claire and Blaine have had long, distinguished careers at Janus and we wish them well in their future endeavors," Black said. "Although we'll miss them, they leave behind a strong team with exceptional talent that is ready to deliver for shareholders."

(a) Morningstar does not yet rate this Fund as it is less than
    3 years old.

Data presented reflects past performance, which is no guarantee of
 future results.
For each fund with at least a three-year history, Morningstar
calculates a Morningstar Rating(TM) based on a Morningstar
Risk-Adjusted Return measure that accounts for variation in a
fund's monthly performance (including the effects of sales charges,
loads, and redemption fees), placing more emphasis on downward
variations and rewarding consistent performance. The top 10% of the
funds in each category receive 5 stars, the next 22.5% receive 4
stars, the next 35% receive 3 stars, the next 22.5% receive 2 stars,
and the bottom 10% receive 1 star. (Each share class is counted as a
fraction of one fund within this scale and rated separately, which
may cause slight variations in the distribution percentages.) The
Overall Morningstar Rating(TM) for a fund is derived from a weighted
average of the performance figures associated with its three-, five-
and ten-year (if applicable) Morningstar Rating(TM) metrics.

     Portfolio Manager.
(3) Closed to new investors.

market volatility in the healthcare sector.
(5) Effective February 1, 2006, David Corkins is no longer the

     experience greater price volatility.
(7) This Fund has been significantly impacted, either positively
or negatively, by investing in initial public offerings (IPOs).
(8) This Fund may have significant exposure to emerging markets.
In general, emerging market investments have historically been
subject to significant gains and/or losses. As such, the Fund's
returns and NAV may be subject to such volatility.
(9) The Fund held approximately 10.6% of its assets in Brazilian
securities, as of March 31, 2006, and the Fund has experienced
significant gains due, in part, to its investments in Brazil.
While holdings are subject to change without notice, the Fund's
returns and NAV may be affected to a large degree by fluctuations
in currency exchange rates or political or economic conditions in
     Brazil.
(10) Janus Capital has contractually agreed to waive each Fund's
total operating expenses to the levels indicated in the Statement
of Additional Information until at least March 1, 2007. Total
returns and yields shown include fee waiters, if any, and without
such waivers, the Fund's yield and total returns would have been
     lower.
(11) A fund's performance for very short time periods may not be
     indicative of future performance.
(12) Due to certain investment strategies, some funds may have an
     increased position in cash.
(13) Effective February 1, 2006, Ron Sachs is no longer the Portfolio
Manager of Janus Triton Fund and Blaine Rollins is now the
     Portfolio Manager.
(14) The Fund will invest at least 80% of its net assets in the type
of securities described by its name.
(15) The Fund held approximately 17.6% of its assets in Indian
securities as of March 31, 2006, and the Fund has experienced
significant gains due, in part, to its investments in India.
While holdings are subject to change without notice, the Fund's
returns and NAV may be affected to a large degree by fluctuations
in currency exchange rates or political or economic conditions in
     India.
(16) Effective February 28, 2006, Janus Risk-Managed Stock Fund
changed its name to INTECH Risk-Managed Stock Fund.
(17) A 2% redemption fee may be imposed on shares held for 3 months or
less. Performance shown does not reflect this redemption fee and,
if reflected, performance would have been lower.
(18) For certain periods, the Fund's performance reflects the effect
of expense waivers. Without the effect of expense waivers, the
performance shown would have been lower.
(19) Returns have sustained significant gains due to market
     volatility in the financials sector.
(20) The Fund held approximately 15.9% and 13.2% of its assets in
Indian and Brazilian securities, respectively, as of March 31,
2006, and the Fund has experienced significant gains due, in
part, to its investments in India and Brazil. While holdings are
subject to change without notice, the Fund's returns and NAV may
be affected to a large degree by fluctuations in currency
exchange rates or political or economic conditions in India
     and/or Brazil.
(21) Effective February 1, 2006, Mike Lu is no longer the Portfolio
Manager of Janus Global Technology Fund, and a team of technology
analysts selects investments for the Fund. Bradley Slingerlend
and Burton Wilson lead the team and are jointly and primarily
responsible for the day-to-day management of Janus Global
     Technology Fund.
(22) Returns have sustained significant gains due to market volatility
     in the information technology sector.
(23) Returns shown for Janus Mid Cap Value Fund prior to April 21,
2003, are those of Berger Mid Cap Value Fund. Returns shown for
Janus Small Cap Value Fund prior to April 21, 2003 are those of
     Berger Small Cap Value Fund.
(24) Bond funds have the same interest rate, inflation, and credit
risks that are associated with the underlying bonds owned by the
Fund. Unlike owning individual bonds, there are ongoing fees and
expenses associated with owning shares of bonds funds. The return
of principal is not guaranteed due to net asset value fluctuation
that is caused by changes in the price of specific bonds held in
the Fund and selling of bonds within the fund by the Portfolio
     Manager.
(25) As of March 31, 2006, 30-day SEC Yield was 3.93% on Janus Federal
Tax-Exempt Fund, 4.52% on Janus Flexible Bond Fund, 7.16% on
Janus High-Yield Fund and 4.48% on Janus Short-Term Bond Fund.
(26) Adviser has agreed to waive a portion of the Fund's expenses if
they exceed the designated cap. If during the periods shown, the
Fund's actual expenses exceeded the cap, its yield and total
return and yield would have been lower.
(27) The Fund's total operating expenses did not exceed the expense
limit so no waivers were in effect for the most recent period
     presented.
(28) High-yield bonds involve a greater risk of default and price
volatility than U.S. Government and other high quality bonds.
High-yield/high-risk bonds can experience sudden and sharp price
swings which will affect net asset value. Due to a onetime
payment added to the fund, the yield experienced a positive
fluctuation. There is no guarantee of any future payments to the
     fund.
(29) Income may be subject to state or local taxes and to a limited
extent certain federal tax. Capital gains are subject to federal,
     state and local taxes.

Differences between compared investments may include objectives,
sales and management fees, liquidity, volatility, tax features and
other features, which may result in differences in performance.

A fund's performance may be affected by risks that include those
associated with non-diversification, investments in foreign securities
and emerging markets, non-investment grade debt securities,
undervalued or overlooked companies, companies with a relatively small
market capitalizations and investments in specific industries or
countries. Please see a Janus prospectus or janus.com for more
information about fund holdings and details.
