SNL Financial moving to new headquarters

Completes renovations on National Ground Intelligence Center Building

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — SNL Financial (SNL) announced today that, after completing an extensive year-long renovation, it has moved its headquarters to the building that formerly housed the National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC).

SNL, which has outgrown its current building on East Main Street, is very excited about its move, a positive for both SNL and the City of Charlottesville. SNL President Mike Chinn said, "It's a win-win situation. SNL can now continue to grow and maintain its presence in the historic downtown area, while the city benefits by keeping a major employer and through the extensive renovations made to the previously vacated and thread-bare NGIC building which it owns."

Working closely with city officials, SNL completed significant renovations to the building, including uncovering and replacing 380 windows in the main building. R.E. Lee served as the general contractor and Train & Partners was the architect on the project.

Charlottesville Director of Economic Development Aubrey Watts added, "This is terrific for the economic well being of downtown Charlottesville. It keeps a successful company with a large, youthful and well-paid employee base in the downtown corridor."

SNL celebrated, July 24, 2003, the grand opening of its new home with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mr. Maurice Cox, Mayor of City of Charlottesville, Ms. Meredith Richards, Vice Mayor of City of Charlottesville and Mr. Aubrey Watts, COO and CFO of City of Charlottesville. In the near future, the nationally-renowned architectural firm William McDonough Architects will relocate its headquarters to the renovated annex that adjoins the new SNL facility.

SNL's former headquarters - a 50,000 square foot building at the corner of East Main Street and 4th Street - is for sale or lease.
