Mr. Leis was appointed President and CEO of Pacific Capital Bancorp on April 2, 2007. He joined the Company in March 2006 as Executive Vice President of Wealth Management and was also named Executive Vice President of Information Technology later that year. Prior to joining Pacific Capital Bancorp, Mr. Leis was the Managing Director, U.S. Head, Products and National Practice Leader for Investments at Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management. He also served as Senior Vice President and Director of Private Client Services Centers at Wells Fargo and as Senior Vice President and Manager for Bank of America Private Bank. A graduate of California State University Northridge, he attained a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning and is a certified trust and financial advisor. He currently serves on numerous boards including the Business School Advisory Board at California State University Northridge, Graziadio School of Business & Management’s Board of Visitors at Pepperdine University and the Santa Barbara Symphony Board of Directors

Mr. Larson is Vice Chairman of the Board of Pacific Capital Bancorp. He began his banking career in 1972 with Valley National Bank in Salinas, California. Mr. Larson is currently serving on the Grants Committee for the Monterey Peninsula Foundation and Audit Committee for Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. He previously served a three-year term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Monterey Peninsula.. He is also a member of the Executive Committee and the RAL/RT Committee
Deborah L. Whiteley Executive VP, Investor Relations, Public Relations, Marketing
Deborah Whiteley is Executive Vice President and Director of Investor Relations, Marketing and Community Relations at Pacific Capital Bancorp.
Ms. Whiteley graduated from California Polytechnic University, Pomona with a BS in Communication Arts. She had a distinguished 20 year career at Security Pacific Bank, serving in increasingly responsible capacities and ultimately as Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications.
In 1998, she moved to Santa Barbara joining the Bank as a Marketing Executive. In 2007 she was promoted to her present position. She is an active community supporter on women’s health and environmental causes.

Sunanda Bhargava EVP, Chief Information Officer
Sunanda Bhargava is Chief Information Officer at Pacific Capital Bancorp. With over 20 years experience in information technology and software development, Ms. Bhargava joined the Bank in 2006 as the Manager of IT Development Services.
In 2000, she was Vice President of Engineering for diCarta, a successful software startup that was acquired by Emptoris in 2005. Prior to that, she served as Director of Research and Development for QAD, an ERP software firm based in Carpinteria, CA.
She holds a Master’s of Architecture and Urban Planning from the New Delhi School of Architecture and Urban Planning and a MBA from the State University of New York.

Noma Bruton EVP, Chief People Officer
Noma Bruton is Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer at Pacific Capital Bancorp. With over 25 years experience in human resources, Ms. Bruton joined the Bank in 2007.
She was most recently the Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Countrywide Bank in Thousand Oaks, CA. Ms. Bruton holds a BA from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Active in the community, Ms Bruton has been a supporter of United Way and the American Heart Association for over 20 years.

David Porter EVP, Chief Credit Officer
David Porter is Executive Vice President, Chief Credit and Senior Risk Officer of Pacific Capital Bancorp. Mr. Porter has more than 34 years of banking expertise, having worked in both large international banks and local community banks.
Mr. Porter launched his career with Bank of America in the International and North America Divisions. He developed expertise in Investment Banking with emphasis on energy and public utility clients. Mr. Porter most recently specialized in Mergers and Acquisitions and Credit Administration prior to joining Pacific Capital Bancorp in 2003.
He was appointed Senior Credit Administrator and later Chief Credit Officer in 2005. In May 2007 he was appointed Executive Vice President, Chief Credit and Senior Risk Officer.
Mr. Porter holds both his Bachelor’s degree in economics and an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has been member of the Rotary Club and served as an American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Coach.

Dr. Birch serves as independent Chairman of the Board of Pacific Capital Bancorp and its subsidiary, Pacific Capital Bank, N.A. Prior to April 24, 2004, he served as independent Lead Director and Chairman of the former Governance and Compensation Committee. He served as Executive Vice President of Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, from 1993 to 2001, and was Vice Chancellor of the University of California, Santa Barbara, from 1976 to 1993. Dr. Birch also serves as Trustee of the Margaret C. Mosher Trust, President/CEO of the Mosher Foundation and is involved in a number of civic and community organizations. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Westmont College, Cottage Health Systems and the Community Arts Music Association (CAMA).

Company, a national, full-service discount commission brokerage house which was purchased by

brokerage firm (1975 – 1984). He is a former Member of the Chicago Stock Exchange, the
National Association of Securities Dealers, and the Securities Investor Protection Corporation. He

William R. Loomis Jr.

Mr. Loomis, 61, is an independent financial advisor, corporate director, and
investor. He was a General Partner and Managing Director at the investment
bank Lazard Freres & Co. (1984 - 2002). After the formation of Lazard LLC in
2000, he was named Chief Executive Officer of the new entity. Mr. Loomis
was a Limited Managing Director of Lazard LLC (2002 – 2004). He is a
director of Limited Brands, Inc. (NYSE), and former Director of Alcan Inc.
(NYSE); Ripplewood LLC, a private leveraged investment company; and
Engelhard Corporation (NYSE), a mineral and chemical technologies
company (since acquired). Mr. Loomis was awarded the “Outstanding
Director Award in 2006” by the Outstanding Directors’ Exchange. He holds a
BA from Williams College; and an MBA from Harvard Business School; and
completed Graduate Studies in American History at the University of
