Merchants Bancshares, Inc., a Delaware Corporation, is a bank holding company originally organized under Vermont law in 1983 (and subsequently reincorporated in Delaware) for the purpose of owning all of the outstanding capital stock of Merchants Bank. Merchants Bank was organized in 1849 and is the only remaining independent statewide banking company in Vermont.
Merchants Bank is a full-service, commercial bank offering a complete range of retail and commercial services to businesses, industry, private and government institutions and individuals. The Bank maintains 34 full-service banking offices and five additional ATM-only locations throughout Vermont.
