New community program facilitates neighborhood enhancement projects
PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Bank, a subsidiary of Umpqua Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ:UMPQ), has
launched the Build Your Block Challenge, a campaign that supports
neighborhood enhancement projects. Kicking off at Umpqua’s newest store
location in Portland, Ore.’s Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood, the $10,000
campaign is accepting project submissions online and onsite through July
Residents in the Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood are encouraged to submit
a neighborhood project that they would like to see funded and conducted
in their community. The field will be narrowed to three final ideas and
residents will vote for the project that will be funded up to $10,000.
Interested community members can submit their ideas via Facebook (by
searching for Umpqua Bank Sellwood) and posting on the wall or by
sharing their idea in person with an associate at Umpqua’s Sellwood
location on S.E. 13th and Bidwell.

Community members are encouraged to submit any neighborhood project that
would benefit area residents -- from a community garden to additional
bike racks and benches. Community members are also asked to help spread
the word about the campaign and help shape their favorite idea on the
Umpqua Bank Sellwood Facebook page.
Build Your Block idea submissions are due by July 9 when all will be
reviewed and narrowed to three potential winners. From July 19 through
30, Sellwood-Moreland residents are encouraged to visit the store to
vote for the project they believe will make Sellwood-Moreland an even
better neighborhood for living, working and playing. Once a winner is
selected, Umpqua Bank will facilitate the development of the project
from beginning to end, including the creation of project committees and
volunteer opportunities for neighbors.
Later this year, Umpqua Bank will launch the Build Your Block Challenge
in additional Portland neighborhoods where new Umpqua stores are
planned, including the Alberta Arts district.
