  • Washington Trust Announces Plans To Open New Commercial Lending Office In Downtown Providence

    WESTERLY, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 2006--

    The Washington Trust Company today announced the Bank's plans to open a new commercial lending office in the financial district of Providence, RI. Washington Trust will lease 6,261 square feet of space on the first floor of 10 Weybosset Street to house the Bank's Providence-based Commercial Lending team, which is currently located at the Bank's Washington Street branch. The office is scheduled to open later this year.

    "Our commercial lending area has had significant growth over the past several years, particularly in the Greater Providence market" said John F. Treanor, president and chief operating officer of Washington Trust. Stating, "We added a number of experienced lenders to our Providence team and needed a location that would both support this growth and enable them to better serve their clients and business associates."

    Washington Trust also recently announced plans to open two new bank branches in early 2007: one at 1195 Oaklawn Avenue in Cranston, RI, and a second at 1473 Warwick Avenue in Warwick, R.I. Both branches are subject to local, federal and state regulatory approvals.
