International Securities Exchange Holdings Inc. said Nov. 2 that its average daily trading volume for all options contracts totaled 4.0 million contracts for October, a 10.5% decrease compared to 4.4 million contracts in the year-ago period.

Total options volume for the month fell to 87.2 million contracts from 102.0 million contracts in October 2008, a decline of 14.4%.

On a year-to-date basis, the company's total volume through October amounted to 839.3 million contracts, down 5.0% from 883.9 million contracts recorded in October 2008.

Average daily trading volume of all options totaled about 4.0 million contracts year-to-date, down 4.1% from about 4.2 million contracts traded in the year-ago period.
