Goldman Sachs Group Inc. "has hit a major homerun," Rochdale Securities LLC analyst Dick Bove said in a Nov. 3 note, citing announcements that the company is an adviser on Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s acquisition of Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Stanley Tool Works' acquisition of Black and Decker. He noted that while fees from the deals will not be booked until the transactions close, "they are expected to be substantial." Bove also reiterated his theory that 2010 will be a record year for M&A activity as banks seek to divest operations, pharmaceutical companies search for new products and manufacturing giants eliminate capacity. Bove said the company's stock price continues to be attractive. |
