Teall Edds and Stu Wilson, fund managers at Stark Investments, have formed Orchard Capital Partners, through which they will invest in debt and private equity-like deals, The Wall Street Journal reported Nov. 2.

The new firm, starting with $1.5 billion in total capital, was set up after disagreements with Stark Investments over whether to continue to invest in illiquid credit deals, according to the report.

Edds and Wilson will launch an equity fund that will specialize in Asia's publicly traded markets, including buying and holding shares, the Journal said, adding that Stark Investments will inject approximately $1 billion in the new fund.
