Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc suspended two of its bankers after discovering evidence of alleged corruption in the bank's overseas mortgage department after the group's bailout in 2008, The (London) Telegraph reported Oct. 31.

The executives under scrutiny, Alan Dawson and Simon Clark, are accused of demanding tens of thousands of pounds from foreign estate agents in exchange for referring customers.

Chris Nichols, head of legal matters for RBS International, is leading the investigation.

The company inquiry is deemed to be examining whether the alleged corruption spread within the department as Dawson and Clark allegedly offered to introduce other colleagues, The Telegraph reported.
