James Rine (Jim) is president and chief executive officer of UMB Bank, n.a. He began his career at UMB in 1994, and has served in leadership roles of increasing responsibility. In his current role, he is responsible for commercial banking, institutional banking, personal banking, business banking, private wealth management, healthcare services, loan underwriting and approval, bank products and services, and corporate marketing and communications.
Previously at UMB, Jim was president of the Commercial Banking division in which he managed the commercial banking strategy and leadership for the company.
Jim is actively involved in the Kansas City community, serving on the board of the Downtown Council of Kansas City, Truman Library Institute, Kansas City Area Development Council, The Young Presidents Association (YPO) and is on the advisory board for Charlie's House. In 2018, Jim served as the co-chair for the American Heart Association's Heart Ball.
Jim was previously honored as one of the Kansas City Business Journal's NextGen Leaders and is a former recipient of Ingram's Magazine's '40 Under 40' distinction.
Jim earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO.
