Thomas S. Stumb

Tom Stumb is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Truxton Trust and has also served as a member of its Board of Directors since the firm’s inception in 2004. Mr. Stumb served as President of the company from its inception until 2016, when he became Chairman of the Board. He was also one of the company’s twenty founding organizers.

Mr. Stumb holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Vanderbilt University. He is a member of the Leadership Nashville Class of 2013 and the Salvation Army – Nashville Advisory Board (Board Chair, 2019). Previously, he has served as a board member for a number of community organizations including Goodwill Industries, Inc., the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the Leadership Nashville’s Alumni Association. He has also served on the Nominating Advisory Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. In addition, he has served as an Elder (Session Clerk, 2018) and a Deacon of First Presbyterian Church in Nashville.

Andrew L. May

Andrew May serves as President and Chief Financial Officer for Truxton Trust. He became President in 2016 and Chief Financial Officer in 2010. Prior to that, he also served as Director for Truxton Trust. Previously, Mr. May was a Managing Director at Jefferies, a New York-headquartered securities firm, Partner and Director of Equity Research at J.C. Bradford and Company, and Senior Vice President, Equity Research at Equitable Securities.

Mr. May holds a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University, cum laude, and a Master of Business Administration, with distinction, from Harvard Business School. He was an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps, receiving the Combat Action Ribbon for service in Beirut in 1983.

J. Overton Colton

Overton Colton is Truxton Trust’s Managing Director of Operations and Chief Administrative and Risk Officer. His responsibilities at Truxton Trust include general administration, loan administration, and compliance. He was also one of the company’s twenty founding organizers. Prior to Truxton Trust, Mr. Colton served for over 16 years in both marketing and management capacities with NationsBank / Bank of America and First American National Bank in private banking and large corporate banking.  He also served as a consultant for Professional Bank Services, where he completed strategic plans, bank policy manuals, and loan reviews for community banks.

Mr. Colton holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the South and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He is active in industry and community affairs.  He is on the Executive Committee and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville. He is also past President of The Risk Management Association – Middle Tennessee Chapter.

Derrick A. Jones, J.D.

Derrick Jones is Senior Managing Director for Truxton Trust Wealth Management Services and Chief Fiduciary Officer. He joined Truxton Trust during its initial organization in 2004. He is responsible for all strategic and executional matters associated with Wealth Management. Prior to Truxton Trust, Mr. Jones served as a Senior Vice President, Fiduciary Services Manager for SunTrust Bank, where he managed the largest trust and estate department in Tennessee. His prior positions with SunTrust included Regional Wealth Management and Trust Executive in both Northeast and Southeast Georgia.

Mr. Jones earned his Bachelor of Arts in business and finance from St. Leo College, where he graduated magna cum laude. He earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Alabama, where he received the W.T. Goodloe Rutland Endowed Scholarship and was Junior Editor of the Law & Psychology Review. Previously an adjunct professor at Belmont University, he is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor. Mr. Jones served six years in the Naval Submarine Service and is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the Financial Planning Association, and the Estate Planning Councils of Middle Tennessee and Birmingham, Alabama. He is also a past Chairman of the Tennessee Bankers Association Trust Committee.

Julie M. Marr, AAP

Julie Marr is Managing Director for Finance and Chief Treasury Officer at Truxton Trust. She is responsible for all cashier, accounting, IT, and financial reporting matters. Additionally, she is the lead on commercial depository product management and servicing. Ms. Marr joined the firm in Accounting Operations shortly after its opening in 2004. Prior to joining Truxton Trust, she was Operations Manager and Business Analyst for Troy Group, Inc., where she served as an Automated Clearing House (ACH) Operations Consultant, providing ACH software implementation and training for reconcilement of Federal Reserve accounts and daily operations of ACH processing. Additionally, she was in charge of the ACH and lockbox processing services provided by Troy Group, Inc.  Ms. Marr also previously worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. 

Ms. Marr earned her Bachelor of Science in business accounting from the University of Phoenix and her Masters of Accounting and Financial Management from DeVry University. She holds the Accredited Automated Clearing House (ACH) Professional (AAP) designation.

Thomas R. Snyder

Tom Snyder is Senior Managing Director of Private Banking and Chief Lending Officer at Truxton Trust. He has oversight over all loan and depository activities with particular emphasis in loan marketing, underwriting and in the management of lending personnel. He has been with the firm since the bank’s inception in 2004. With over 40 years banking experience, Mr. Snyder previously served as Executive Vice President of Private Banking at National Bank of Commerce and as Senior Vice President of the Private Client Group at SunTrust Bank.

Mr. Snyder earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in economics from the University of Kentucky and his Masters in Banking from Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He is currently leading the long-term strategic planning committee for Urban Housing Solutions. He has served on the board and as Secretary for Gilda’s Club of Nashville and on the National Leukemia Society Board as the Chairman of the Investment and Finance Committees. He has also served as President of Leukemia Society of Tennessee and is a former member of the Finance Committee for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville.

Louise C. Bryan
Louise C. Bryan is principal of Bryan Communications, working with nonprofits in marketing and communications strategy, and is a contributing writer for Belle Meade Living magazine. She has previously worked for Nikko Securities, Bank of America, and served on the board of the Bank of Louisiana. In 2003, Ms. Bryan and her husband purchased Savannah Food Company, a Tennessee-based food manufacturer, and later made Nashville their home. In 2018, Ms. Bryan was elected Belle Meade City Commissioner and Vice Mayor.

Ms. Bryan earned her Master of Business Administration at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and her Bachelor of Arts at Vanderbilt University. Active in local organizations, she currently serves the Friends of Warner Parks Board, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Middle Tennessee Board, The Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt Parent Advisory Board, and previously served on the Women’s Fund Board of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. She is a native of New Orleans.
Jeffrey W. Buntin Jr.
Jeffrey W. Buntin, Jr. is President and CEO of The Buntin Group, which ranks among the top 35 U.S. independent brand/advertising firms and is an ADWEEK-recognized “Top U.S. Shop.” Mr. Buntin began his career with the Chicago office of Bozell Worldwide/TrueNorth Communications, later returning to The Buntin Group in 1997 and to the topmost leadership role in 2004. During his career, he has been elected as the youngest-ever judge of the National ADDYs, received the AAF Silver Medal Award, been named “Copywriter of the Year” and has been covered for his brand strategy and creative work by the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and others.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Washington & Lee University, Mr. Buntin is a current Director of the National Advertising Review Board (NARB), a Director of NPT/Nashville Public Television, a Board of Governors member of the American Association of Advertising Agencies’ River States Council, a founding member of Nashville’s Davidson Group and has held a number of board positions, including past Chair of Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee, in addition to The Ensworth School.

David Brewster Dobie
David Brewster Dobie is President and CEO of Dobie Media Inc., which aggregates event and entertainment information for distribution on the web and cell phones. In 1989, Mr. Dobie co-founded Nashville’s alternative newsweekly, the Nashville Scene. In 1999, the partners sold the publication.

He is a graduate of the University of the South and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He is active in land preservation and conservation issues and was a founding board member of The Land Trust for Tennessee. He was appointed by then Tennessee Governor Bredesen to serve on the Heritage Conservation Trust Fund, a state conservation organization. Mr. Dobie is the former Chairman of the board of LEAD Academy, a charter school in Nashville, and a former board member of the University of the South in Sewanee.

Stanley M. Ezell
Stanley M. Ezell is the former President of Purity Dairies, Inc. During his over 25 plus years of experience with Purity, he served in various capacities and held several positions with state, regional and national industry associations.

Mr. Ezell is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Middle Tennessee State University. He has been active in his community serving on the boards of Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity and Lipscomb University. Currently, he is President of the Board of Tennessee Prison Outreach Ministry.

Decosta E. Jenkins
Decosta E. Jenkins has worked at the Nashville Electric Service (NES) since 1991 and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since September 2004. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to becoming President and Chief Executive Officer, he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Jenkins also served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Electric Power Board. Prior to joining NES, Mr. Jenkins was with Deloitte LLP for eleven years where he worked in the audit department.

Mr. Jenkins graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He also has an Associate of Science in electrical engineering technology from Penn Foster College. He serves as the Chair Elect of the board of The American Public Power Association. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of Tennessee, the board of directors of Samaritan Ministries/Project S.E.E., the board of directors of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, the board of Seven States Power Corporation, the YMCA Middle Tennessee board, and the Nashville Chamber of Commerce board of directors. He serves on the American Public Power Association’s Climate Change and Generation Policy Task Force.

Matthew A. King

Matthew A. King is the Co-Managing Partner of FCA Venture Partners, a venture capital investment partnership started in 1997, and Managing Partner of Dioko Health Ventures, a venture capital partnership started in 2016. He is also the Managing Partner of Triple Play Ventures, LLC, an investment partnership started in 1999. He served as a Vice President of Third National Bank and its successor, SunTrust Bank, from 1983 to 1989. He served as the Chairman, President, and CEO of Radar Business Systems, Inc. from 1990 to 1996 and a Regional Vice President of Radar’s successor company, U.S. Office Products, Inc., from 1996 to 1999. In 2001, he co-founded My Office Products, Inc., and served as Chairman, President, and CEO until 2003.

Mr. King is a graduate of Wake Forest University, where he serves on the board of trustees and on the board of directors of Wake Forest University Health Sciences. Mr. King also serves on the boards of directors of Clinical Ink, Inc., VeriCred, Inc., MediQuire, Inc., Remedly, Inc., StudioNow, Inc., and nVolve, Inc., each of which is an FCA Venture Partners, Dioko Health Ventures, or Triple Play Ventures portfolio company. Previously, he has served on the board of trustees of Christ Presbyterian Academy and the board of directors for Studio Tenn, Inc., Salama Urban Ministries, Inc. and Landmark Journey Ministries, Inc.

V. Larkin Martin
V. Larkin Martin manages Martin Farm and is Vice President of The Albemarle Corporation. Both are family businesses with interests in agriculture and timberland. She has held those positions since 1990.

In addition to her farming responsibilities, Ms. Martin holds and has held a number of positions off of the farm. She is currently a Director of Rayonier Inc., (RYN), a timberland REIT headquartered in Jacksonville, FL and a Trustee of The Farm Foundation, a Chicago-based, non-advocacy, public charity that promotes objective analysis on issues critical to the future of agriculture, food systems and rural communities. She is member of the board of directors of PARCA, The Public Research Affairs Council of Alabama, Africa Harvest, a Kenyan-based NGO helping to improve the lives of smallholder farmers and rural communities across Africa and the Soil Health Institute in Cary, NC. Ms. Martin is a past Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and of The Cotton Board, the board overseeing the national check-off program for cotton. She has served on the Alabama Ethics Commission and on the boards of The Alabama Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, The Vanderbilt Alumni Association, Camp Merrie-Woode and Leadership Alabama. Ms. Martin was named an Eisenhower Fellow in 2012. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University.

Deborah A. McDermott
Deborah A. McDermott was named CEO of Standard Media Group in April 2018 to lead the start-up broadcasting company focused on building a major broadcast television group. Ms. McDermott’s appointment followed a 20-plus year career leading broadcast groups – including COO of Media General and CEO-President of Young Broadcasting. Her tenure as CEO included mergers with Media General and LIN Media and the company grew to one of the nation’s largest multimedia companies – covering 23 percent of U.S. households and 43 percent of the U.S. internet audience and operated or serviced 71 television stations in 48 markets. Ms. McDermott is also the Founder and CEO of McDermott Media Group. The company executives have over 150 years of combined leadership experience in broadcast M&A and building and operating high-performing broadcast and digital media business.

Ms. McDermott was inducted in to the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame in 2013 and has served as Chair of the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) and the ABC Affiliate Board of Governors, and as a member of the Boards of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Television Bureau of Advertising (TVB). She currently serves on the board of directors for the Country Music Association (CMA) and has served as President of the Second Harvest Food Bank, chaired the Nashville Sports Council and the United Way Annual Campaign. She has also served on the boards of The Ensworth School, Leadership Nashville, Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp and the Nashville Convention Commission.
Gustavus A. Puryear IV
G.A. Puryear IV, is General Counsel and Chief Human Resources Officer of NEW Asurion Corporation (“Asurion”) and its various subsidiaries. Asurion is the global leader in technology protection services, including mobile handset protection programs, technology support, and extended service contracts for electronics and other consumer goods. He has served as Asurion’s General Counsel since April 2010. Beginning in October 2014, Mr. Puryear has also been responsible for Asurion’s human resources function. Mr. Puryear previously served for more than nine years as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of Corrections Corporation of America, now known as CoreCivic. He also previously held government positions in Washington, D.C., and he practiced law in Nashville following a clerkship for the Honorable Rhesa H. Barksdale, Circuit Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit.

Mr. Puryear is a graduate of Emory University and the University Of North Carolina School Of Law. He has served on various civic and charitable boards in the Nashville community, including: American Red Cross, Nashville Chapter; Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville (Chairman, 2006-08); Boy Scouts of America, Middle Tennessee Council; Cheekwood Botanical Gardens & Museum of Art; and the Economic Club of Nashville (President, 2009-10). He has also served on the Board of Visitors of the University of North Carolina.

Christopher C. Whitson
Christopher C. Whitson is a member in the law firm of Sherrard Roe Voigt & Harbison, PLC (“SRVH”), where he has practiced as a corporate and transactional attorney since 1997. Mr. Whitson formerly served as the head of SRVH’s corporate department and was the firm’s Recruiting Chairman. Prior to joining SRVH, Mr. Whitson served as Vice President and Secretary of Whitson Lumber Company from 1990 to 1997. From 2003 to 2005, Mr. Whitson served as Councilman for the Government of Nashville and Davidson County, as Metropolitan Councilman for the 23rd District. Mr. Whitson also served as Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the Government of Nashville and Davidson County, serving on the BZA from 2008 through 2016.

Mr. Whitson is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University. He is active in several community and civic organizations. Mr. Whitson is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Harpeth Hall School and Montgomery Bell Academy. Mr. Whitson is also a former member of the boards of the Nashville Zoo, Harding Academy, St. George’s Kindergarten, and of the Economic Club of Nashville. Mr. Whitson formerly served on the Vestry of St. George’s Church, having served as both Senior and Junior Warden.
 
TRUXTON TRUST
