President and Chief Executive Officer
The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc.
Mr. Zubretsky, 59, is an accomplished executive with more than 35 years of experience in the insurance and financial services sectors. He served in senior executive roles at Aetna, the Fortune 50 insurer, from 2007 to 2015, most recently as chief executive officer of its Healthagen Holdings subsidiary. Before that, he was senior executive vice president of National Businesses, Aetna’s largest flagship business unit with $10 billion in revenues. He joined the company as executive vice president and chief financial officer, and was responsible for all aspects of financial management, including business development initiatives. He was also a key voice for Aetna and the industry, influencing national healthcare reform.
Prior to joining Aetna, Mr. Zubretsky held executive positions at companies including Unum Group, where he was senior executive vice president, responsible for the company’s finance, investments, strategy, marketing and risk operations (2005–2007); Brera Capital Partners, a global private equity firm , where he was a partner (1999 –2005); and MassMutual Financial Group, where he served as executive vice president of business development and chief financial officer (1997–1999 ). He began his career at Coopers & Lybrand, where he served from 1982 to 1996, becoming a partner of the firm’s national insurance practice, providing strategic and financial advice to insurers such as The Travelers Corporation, MassMutual Financial Group and HSB, among others.
Mr. Zubretsky earned his bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Hartford, and holds the designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
