Item 8.01     Other Events
Effective December 3, 2018, the Board of Directors of Synovus Financial Corp. (the “Company”) approved a share repurchase program pursuant to which the Company may repurchase up to $25 million of its common stock, par value $1.00 per share, during the month of December 2018. The Company may repurchase shares from time to time in open market transactions or through privately negotiated transactions at the Company’s discretion and in accordance with applicable securities laws. The timing, price, volume and nature of any share repurchases will be based on market conditions and other factors.
